Mahou-San Miguel group has acquired 50% of the Indian company Arian Breweries & Distilleries Ltd.

Mahou-San Miguel group has acquired 50% of the Indian company Arian Breweries & Distilleries Ltd., owned by a local family group and which has a factory of beer in Bhiwadi, in the State of Rajasthan (North-West of India).
With this transaction, in the process of approval by the local authorities, the group gives an important qualitative leap in its internationalization strategy. So far both in the export agreements licensing with foreign partners had focused. With this agreement of joint-venture happens to have its first production center outside Spain.
This factory has hundreds of employees and a strategic location. Initially it will supply the area north of India to expand in the future for the rest of this country, with a population of 1.2 billion people, high growth and a per capita consumption of beer still low expectations.
Arian B & D Ltd. will manufacture and market in India Dare Devil and Caribbean, local brands that form part of the agreement, in addition to the Mahou products.
Mahou-San Miguel group advocates that international development “has had and is of strategic importance” for this company. In addition to being “leader” in Spain, it is number one in export by producing more than 75% of the national beer to be marketed outside Spanish borders, experiencing a growth constant and relevant. He is currently present in 41 countries.
As a sign of its commitment to internationalization, as well as the taking of participation in Arian B & D Ltd., Mahou-San Miguel has recently launched San Miguel fresh in United Kingdom, first product for the international market. In 2009 Mahou-San Miguel reached an agreement with the Danish company Carlsberg whereby it acquired the rights to distribute and market San Miguel, United Kingdom, while Mahou-San Miguel did the same with the brands Grimbergen and Tetley’s in Spain.
